In June 2020, PROGEO is hired by the Diputació de Barcelona to carry out a diagnosis and stabilization study of a prefabricated blocks wall that saves the gap between Pietat Street and Sa Boada Square, in Arenys de Mar.

This study focuses on evaluating, from a technical and economic point of view, two alternatives for stabilization and improvement of the current state. The first alternative proposes the execution of a “Soil Nailing” wall as a measure to reinforce the wall, while the second alternative proposes the execution of a micropile wall with the same objective, to provide sufficient and long-term resilience to the current wall.

The PROGEO developed geotechnical consulting activities include the following topics:

• Diagnosis and evaluation of the current state of the wall in order to expose its pathologies and deficiencies.
• Field visits for the recognition of the wall, as well as the structures of the environment’s interferences.
• Analysis, from a technical and economic point of view, of two alternatives of the current state improvement.
• Fulfill Sustainable Development Goals (Objectius de Desenvolupament Sostenible (ODS)) 3, 9 and 11.
• Study writing.
