PROGEO Geotechnical Consultants is hired with the aim of drafting the Project for “Sealing and complementary actions in the Can Planas MSW landfill, Cerdanyola del Vallès”. The project foresees the definitive landfill sealing construction and a set of complementary actions related to gases and leachates control.

This sealing and its complementary actions are considered necessary to:

• Landfill definitive closure, allowing the use of the land for a park construction.
• Minimize, on the landfill environment, leachate or gases contamination.

PRO GEO’s work has consisted, in technical terms, in defining the following aspects:

• Sealing layer geometry and characteristics.
• Gases extraction network.
• Leachate extraction network.
• Deep perimeter drainage network.
• Passive hydraulic barrier near the Can Magrans stream.
• Landscape environmental restoration (topsoil extension and hydroseeding).
